Thomas A. Loescher, BS, BM, MM
CONSULTANT
Thomas Loescher joined BABICHacoustics in 2025 after completing his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Minor in Mathematics from the West Virginia University Institute of Technology. Thomas is a proficient cellist and also holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance from Eastern Michigan University and a Master of Music in Music Performance from the University of Memphis.
With a strong passion for music, Thomas set his sights on a musical career before realizing his career could combine his love for music with his interest in mathematics. This led him to pursue a job in acoustical consulting. Thomas’s experience includes working as a production engineer for line support at Toyota Motors Manufacturing West Virginia where he helped engineer 3D printed parts for machinery used to construct vehicle parts and modified the designs as needed for production. He has also had the unique experience of working in an underground coal mine and rehearsing onstage with a symphony orchestra in the same day.
Thomas has played the cello in many orchestras, including the Michigan Philharmonic Orchestra, the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonietta Memphis, the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, and the Ohio Valley Symphony Orchestra. His other musical talents include playing the piano & the viol de gamba, an instrument similar to the cello. His precision had his high school orchestra conductor joking that he ate a metronome for breakfast. When he is not playing music, he is working on growing his extensive bow tie collection.
When it comes to acoustics, Thomas is intrigued by how sound is produced, travels, and interacts with a space or building. His natural talent and interest in physics, combined with his background and expertise in music, make him an ideal consultant with a well-rounded understanding of the world of sound.
