Art & Historical Center

Project description

BABICHacoustics worked with Schwartz Silver Architects and Loysen + Kreuthmeier Architects on various renovation projects at The Frick Art & Historical Museum in Pittsburgh, PA. The museum constructed a new Welcome Center and support spaces for their Car and Carriage Museum. This renovation included four heat pumps that were located near the patio for their cafe. The Museum was concerned with an appropriates noise level for patrons that would be dining outside. Because the museum is also located in a residential neighborhood, an environmental noise survey was completed in order to comply with the City of Pittsburgh noise code.

A second phase of this project involved another noise survey for additional outdoor mechanical equipment associated with the Car and Carriage Museum. Additionally, a room acoustics evaluation was completed for classrooms that often host art courses for K-12 students. Recommendations were made for surface-applied acoustical treatments to control reverberation and provide better speech intelligibility in this space. Coordination was done with the Design and Construction Team to achieve appropriate room acoustics.
